After several delays, rain postpones Volvo Car Open semifinals


CHARLESTON, S.C. — It is going to be a jam-packed end for the Volvo Automobile Open on Sunday after Saturday’s semifinals have been postponed due to rain.

Organizers referred to as a halt to a soggy Saturday after a number of climate delays. No. 5 seeded Julia Goerges of Germany and Anastasija Sevastova of Latvia, the eighth seed, started their opening set and have been tied at Four-all when the match was postponed.

The schedule Sunday requires American Madison Keys, seeded seventh, to play No. 12 Kiki Bertens of the Netherlands at 10:30 a.m. ET, adopted by the conclusion of the Goerges-Sevastova match.

After a doubles finals, the semifinal winners will compete for the title on the WTA’s first clay-court occasion of the season.

All 4 of the semifinalists are enjoying for his or her first Volvo Automobile Open title.
