Wilson Kopondo has been recalled to Kenya’s squad to contest the Rugby World Cup repechage in France.
Kopondo, a former captain of the Simbas, has been absent since the Regal Hotels Cup of Nations 2017 in Hong Kong with what he told Citizen Digital in June were “injuries in different parts of my body which have taken time to heal”.
Simbas coach Ian Snook has also included Kenya Shujaa Sevens stars Collins Injera, Nelson Oyoo, Samuel Oliech and Andrew Amonde in his 30-man squad, with Kenya Harlequins fullback William Reeve, a British Army Officer, in The Royal Gurkha Rifles, called up to for the first time having impressed during the Sevens circuit and at the Impala Floodlit Tournament.
The Simbas will meet Canada, Germany and Hong Kong at the repechage.
They will play just one build-up match against Romania A in Bucharest on Nov. 3, after fixtures against Namibia, Loftus 2000 and British Army were cancelled due to financial constraints.
