Everton vs Tottenham
Tottenham travel to Everton on Sunday as they go on search of a much-needed victory.
Spurs have had a rather dismal start to the 2019/20 Premier League campaign.
And the North London outfit began match week 11 of the PL season down in 11th place.
Spurs are also currently six points behind Chelsea who, as of writing, sit 4th in the English top-flight.
Everton are also experiencing a similar rut to Tottenham.
Marco Silva’s men have lost four of their last five Premier League ties before Tottenham.
This has put the Toffees within touching distance of the relegation zone.
Pochettino on Sessegnon
Heading into the Everton tie, Mauricio Pochettino held his pre-match press conference on Friday.
During the presser, Pochettino spoke about Ryan Sessegnon.
Sessegnon has yet to feature for Spurs’ senior side since moving from Championship outfit Fulham over the summer.
But with Danny Rose suspended for Everton, Pochettino was asked if we could see Sessegnon in the squad.
According to football.london, the Argentine was asked:
With Danny Rose suspended, might we see Ryan Sessegnon in the squad?
To which Pochettino responded:
“We’re assessing all the players this weekend. We have tomorrow a session and then travel to Liverpool and we’ll see if he can be involved.
Pochettino was then asked if Sessegnon is ready to be part of the group:
Is he ready though to be part of the group?
With the Tottenham boss replying:
“He’s there, I cannot say that he’s complete in the way that we can say we trust him to play 90 minutes. We have a big squad, it’s difficult to give the possibility, but he’s still young.
“He needs to work hard, he had a long period of injury, but for sure he is going to get an opportunity to play in the future.
“He came from Fulham with a massive injury, we are working hard to try to give the level. Always when you have a squad like we have, a big squad, you need to wait for the opportunity and be ready.” As quoted by football.london.
